It all started with a poke. Yes—a Facebook poke. Nearly 15 years ago, we connected online through mutual friends, started a friendly poke war, and somehow never stopped clicking (or poking, for that matter).
We became friends and stayed that way as life took us down different paths. We each had kids, traded stories, shared laughs, and got the little ones together every now and then. Through it all, our friendship never faded—it just quietly waited for the right time.
A year or so back, I invited John to my church, and he and his son started coming regularly. From there, something shifted. We started spending more time together, talking more, laughing more—and eventually, dating. Turns out, the best relationships really do start with a solid friendship (and mostly Gods timing).
Now, we’re the kind of couple that turns every small agreement—whether it’s about dinner, parenting, or which movie to watch—into a mock business deal. A firm handshake, a serious nod, and a proud “Nice doing business with ya. J and R Services.” You’ll see the joke carried over into our wedding links and registry names… because we can’t help ourselves.
From poke wars to partners in life—we’re thrilled to finally say this is official business.
